It’s functions are limited compared to it’s big brother but it will give you a chance to follow along with me for the most part and see for yourself just how incredibly easy it is to make a website yourself.
First things first. Lets discuss a few basic things you need to understand before you even start to build a website.
I am often asked what are domain names? A domain is the name of your website that people type into their browsers to find your website. For example the domain of this website is easywebsitemaking.com
I didn’t just pluck that name out of a hat, although that would have been easier. ;) Instead I chose this name first of all because no one else was using it but also after considerable keyword research.
Domain names are more than just the name itself, you also have to understand Domain name extensions. These can come in various forms. Below are the most common.
The most popular extension is .COM but you can use any extension. It really depends who your target audience are. If you were targeting a UK audience then you would choose the .CO.UK extension.
To check to see if your chosen name is available I suggest you check out the domain name search facility from .
To find your best keywords you first need to do a little digging around. Research is in order here. So this is what I want you to do right now. Open a new browser window and go to the Google homepage. Once there type in a few keywords appropriate for your website. If you have not yet figured out what you want to do then use this example. Type in how to build a dog kennel. Do not hit enter. You will notice from the screenshot below that Google is suggesting to you live keywords that people are actually typing into Google.
My program of choice when assessing keywords is Jaaxy. Find out how to use Jaaxy here.
If you read the post above you should by now have a good understanding of how Jaxxy works, created your free account to get access to your first 30 free searches and found some really top quality keywords that you wish to use. You should also have found your domain name and checked if it was available.
You can do a quick search on Jaaxy below also.

So already we have 4 keywords for this particular area. These are actually called Long Tail Keywords because they are almost full sentences instead of just one word.
Once you have written your keywords down lets try something else. Again return to Google and type in your keyword but this time put in a space then the letter A, again do not hit enter. Lets see the results.
Voila! More long tail keywords. Try it again but type in B, then C etc all the way through the alphabet. Write down the ones you are most interested in using and know the most about.
You should now have a nice big list of keywords. Time to see which ones are useful and which ones you want to use to get ranked in the Search Engines.
